Martin's Air Charter Douglas DC-3 - PH-MAA
Johan Martin Schroeder was a pioneer in Dutch commercial aviation. A pilot himself, he founded Martin’s Air Charter in 1958, the first charter airline in The Netherlands. The very first flight with its, at the time, sole aircraft, an 11-seat de Havilland Dove, headed from Amsterdam to the island of Majorca in the Mediterranean. A year later, in 1959, he purchased the first Douglas DC-3 – PH-MAA. He remained president and CEO until retiring in 1998, 40 years after the founding of his airline. On October 2, 2024, Martin Schroeder passed away, at the age of 93. To commemorate his life-long achievements for commercial aviation in The Netherlands and beyond, Herpa is releasing a model of the first Douglas DC-3 of Martin’s Air Charter, registered PH-MAA, in a limited edition.
