On this Boeing 777F, registered D-ALFG, Lufthansa Cargo, together with the logistics subsidiary of the Deutsche Bahn, draw attention to their CO2-neutral flights, which they have been operating once a week from Frankfurt to Shanghai-Pudong since April 2021 using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), saving around 174 metric tons of conventional kerosene each week. The synthetic kerosene is currently mainly produced from biomass such as plant residues or used cooking oils. The use of SAF completely avoids fossil CO2 emissions.
