Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner "Chim Lac" 30th anniversary livery – VN-A868

Despite having roots back to 1956, in which year the North Vietnamese Government created an air force regiment operating as an airline under the name Vietnam Civil Aviation, the airline known today was officially incorporated as a civilian and commercial enterprise on May 27, 1995. Over the past three decades, the airline has grown considerably, operating close to 100 aircraft with one of Asia’s youngest fleets on over 300 daily flights across Asia as well as to far-off destinations in Europe and North America. To celebrate this anniversary, the airline painted the legendary Lac bird onto this 787 Dreamliner. The mythical bird appears on bronze drums created by the Dong Son culture, a Bronze Age culture in Southeast Asia that can be dated back to 1000 BC.
