Turkish Airlines McDonnell Douglas DC-10-10 - TC-JAU "Istanbul"
When delivered in 1972 the two DC-10 trijets were the first widebody aircraft operated by Turkey’s national carrier. A third Series 10 aircraft followed early the following year, named Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, respectively. These were a considerable upgrade in capacity, range and passenger comfort compared to the Boeing 707 that were operated on long-distance routes up to then. This limited-edition model sports the original "pajama" color scheme from the early 1970s, the stripes along the fuselage and tail reminding many of the stripe designs used on nightwear.
