Herpa congratulates American Airlines
A Landmark Livery for a Landmark Anniversary
From its first airmail flight in 1926 to the global airline it is today, American Airlines tells a story defined by pioneering spirit and continuous transformation. What began with Charles Lindbergh flying a simple mail route between St. Louis and Chicago has evolved into a worldwide network – now representing an entire century of aviation history.
To mark its 100th anniversary, American Airlines bridges its heritage with a forward-looking vision.
One key expression of this is the specially designed “Flagship” livery on a Boeing 777-300ER, symbolizing both progress and the golden age of aviation. In its modern interpretation of the Douglas DC-3 from nearly 90 years ago, historical design elements blend seamlessly with contemporary styling – creating a deliberate bridge between tradition
and innovation.
The American Airlines "Flagship" livery at Herpa
The aircraft registered as N735AT is inspired by the classic "Silver Eagle" design. It revives the iconic orange lightning bolt and features a historic eagle roundel near the rear, symbolizing the airline’s global reach and premium heritage. Named “Flagship DFW,” it pays tribute to both American’s early luxury travel era and its main hub at Dallas–Fort Worth, linking its past, present, and future in one design.
Herpa brings this unique combination to life in form of a special miniature model. Featuring the Boeing 777-300ER in its striking heritage design, they not only replicate the appearance of the original aircraft but also reflect the evolution of an airline over an entire century.
