This VW T3 of the Hamburg fire department in the orange of the disaster control/civil defense appears unusual, but nevertheless prototypical. The vehicle served as a mobile or stationary telecommunications operation center for a technical operations control center in the event of a disaster or defense. Its task was to establish and maintain telecommunication connections between the units at the scene and the higher command level. The Hamburg vehicle with the registration number HH-8023 was used by the fire department (FF Bille, FuRw Sasel, FuRw Bergedorf) from 1985 onwards and was only decommissioned in 2003 after an accident.
